Livelihood

Livelihood Module

We had Livelihood Module by Misss.Neelam before this module I didn’t know anything about livelihood. When I attend first day I came to know what is livelihood and  it was very interesting.  Livelihood meaning is A set of economic activities, involving self-employment or wage-employment.by sing one’s human and material to generate adequate resources for meeting the requirements of self and the household and a livelihood should keep a person meaningfully occupied, in a sustainable manner, with dignity. Livelihood, therefore, go far beyond generating income. A livelihood is much more than employment.
In current decade according to estimates of the planning commission for the tenth five year plan, more than 10 million people in India will be seeking work every year. Thus to make sure full employment within decade, more than 10 million new livelihoods will have to be generated every year. Given the magnitude of the problem, and the lack of resources for livelihood support.  Livelihood activities are very important to develop the rural / urban area. Government of India has been one of the largest agencies involved in such livelihood promotion efforts. This study helped fellows to understand where intervention cab done in livelihood. It can be through different approach like spatial, segmental, sectoral and holistic. Some other organization also involved in these activities for examples SEWA, BASIX, PRADAN and DHRUVA. Finally I came to know there are lot of opportunity for a entrepreneur in livelihood.
